The winner of the Hart trophy for the regular season MVP goes to Finland’s Dan Barrett. This is Dan’s 2nd Hart trophy along with last years Art Ross and a Calder winner. Dan helped lead his Finnish team to a solid season and a contender for the Gold medal. With out Dan Finland is just not the same team. A class act on and off the ice and such an awesome fit in our league. Congrats Mr. Barrett on an outstanding season.
The winner of the Norris trophy for the leagues outstanding defensemen goes to Canada’s Robin Chantaj. This is Robin’s 3rd Norris trophy alongside 1 Conn Smythe award as well. Robin helped Canada to a regular season 1st place finish. He also was tied for most points by a defensemen with Swedens Tony Thomas with 25 points this year. Robin led all blue liners with 21 assists. An effortless skater and ultimate playmaker, pats on the back Mr. Chantaj for this accomplishment.
This years rookie of the year Calder winner goes to Canada’s Paul Alloway. An incredible rookie season for Paul as he was tied for rookie scoring with team mate Tim Martins. 17 goals and 10 assists for 27 points in 14 games played. Pretty sure with out Paul Canada would not have finished in top spot during this past regular season. A gentle giant and a lawyer too, mmmmmm there is a few jokes I have but will hold back. Congrats Paul on a great rookie campaign.
This seasons most improved player wins the Selke award and that goes to Canada’s Paul Harty. Jeez all the hardware going to the red and white. Paul had an exceptional season with 16 goals and 9 assists for 25 points. Thats an 18 point improvement vs the previous season, wow!!! I think Paul spent the summer at the Gary Julius hockey school. Kidding aside an awesome year for Mr. Harty and it was an easy choice for the Exec, well done sir.
The Art Ross award for regular season scoring champion was shared by Polands Pat McCormick and USA Rob McKean. The boys finished tied with a 42 point campaign. For Patty, a veteran in our league, this is his 4th Art Ross alongside 1 Hart, 1 Conn Smythe and 2 Rocket Richard awards. A lock for the PCOHL hall of Fame (do we have one?). For Mr. McKean it is his 3rd Art Ross and he too has multiple Rocket Richard awards. Both such natural goal scorers and we are very proud to honour both of these members.
The Rocket Richard winner for most goals scored in the regular season goes to USA Rob McKean. 23 goals this season 1 more than Swedens Flumerfelt. This is Rob’s 4th Rocket Richard trophy as the man still knows how to put the biscuit in the basket, yes sir. Congrats Robert!
The Vezina winner for outstanding goalie goes to Canada’s Frank Rispoli. This is Frank’s 5th Vezina award and 4th in the last 5 years, truly our best back stop. Frank helped Canada to a 1st place finish leading all goalies with a 3.95 goals against average. A class act on and off the ice as well. Bravo! Benissimo!
