Week 11 Recap
Last Friday we kicked off our 3rd round of regular season games. Early tilt between Sweden and Finland. All light blue in the 1st as they out score the Swedes 4-1. 2nd frame finished at 1-1. Finland led 5-2 going into the 3rd. Finland out paced the Swedes in the final period 2-1 for a commanding 7-3 win. No Brenda visits in this one. Sweden got 2 goals from Joe ‘Handsome’ Peacock and a single from Sal Guerra. Finland got 2 goals each from both Dwayne Tygesen and rookie phenon Dave Connolly. Singles from Jay Cummings, Timmy Randa, and rookie Tim Freeman who had a 4 point night. Players of the Game went to Swedens Steve Kaluzny and to Finland Tim Martins.
Late game between rivals Canada and USA. One late USA goal in the 1st period as both squads looked sharp early on. Again USA scored late in the 2nd taking a 2-0 lead as American backstop the ageless Bobby Ide stopped all Canadian shots. Canada finally scored early in the 3rd making it a 1 goal game. USA got 2 more mid way through the final frame and then a late one winning this puppy 5-1. USA went 0-3 on the PP and Canada was 0-1. Canada’s lone goal from Robin ‘Stitches’ Flumerfelt. USA got 2 goals from league leader Marcelo Diluzio and singles from Dan Barrett, Peter Freeman and Murray ‘Disco’ Russell. Special note Billy Dawe had 3 helpers on this night. Players of the Game went to Canada’s Robin Flumerfelt and for the Yanks Bobby Ide.
This weeks games on Friday, December 6 as follows; 9:15 USA will do battle with the newly winning Finland. Late game at 10:30 between the rested Polocks and Sweden looking to bounce back. Canada gets the week off.
