Week 11 Recap Start of Round 3
Boys Last Friday kicked off our 3rd round of games. And we had
BREAKING NEWS just before the early game between David Dodic Slovenia and Chinook Paddles Ireland. As our Trade deadline came to an end a block buster trade was made between Ireland and Scotland. This one was a shocker!!! Ireland with only 1 tie and 3 losses in its last 4 games and scoring only 12 goals for and 21 goals against needed some scoring help in a bad way. And just before the deadline they struck a deal with the soaring Scots. Trading their high flying rookie Aaron Freeland for Scots #1 overall draft pick season veteran Alan Robb. Robb a former Hart and Art Ross winner and aging veteran on the back nine of his career has struggled so far early on this season. Playing only 3 of Scotlands 8 games it is unclear if Alan was a healthy scratch or rumours of a mid body injury seemed conspicious. Many current Scots with cold sores seemed to be unaware if Robb was to blame. Robb with only 1 marker in his 3 games with Scotland received the news from his daughter on her social media site. Ireland was very excited to welcome Robb into their family as they gave up young talent and are all in for this season taking a major risk on the aging veteran.
Scotland plays Ireland on our last game before the Holidays on December 17 and plan on a video tribute for Robb. Should be a fun night. We were told that negotiations were very aggressive on both ends and 3 cans of beer and an old Hustler magazine from the 80’s finally sealed the deal for Robb. Scotland gets a very young defensive specialist in Freeland and are very happy to welcome him to their family. Here are a few images of Robb in the past and we will follow his story through out this season.
Ok so lets get back to the early game between Slovenia and Ireland. First goal of the game comes off the wood of the newly traded Alan Robb. Ireland fans go crazy in the stands. Slovenia tied it up to close out the 1st 1-1. Ireland takes a penalty early in the 2nd but boy oh boy this was Al’s night as he scores short handed and then Brideau gets another one short handed. 3 more Ireland goals in the 2nd as Slovenia was completely on their heels in this one trailing 6-2 after 2. Both teams get singles in the 3rd for an Ireland win of 7-3. Slovenia got goals from Dave Skingley, a beaut from Ron Richardson and Dwayne Tygesen. Ireland got 2 goals each from Alan Robb and Leo Brideau and singles from Bryon Wright, Paul Harty and Brian Spence. Slovenia went 0-1 on the PP Ireland was 0-0. Players of the Game went to Slovenia’s fill in goalie Scottie McCallum, not sure why this photo was blurry but Scotty mentioned kiss your sister?????
And for the Irish obviously a no brainer newly traded Alan Robb.
Ok late game between Rabba Fine Foods Scotland and Dupal Studios Italy. 1-1 after the 1st period. Scotland scored twice to Italia’s single in the 2nd period for a Scotland lead of 3-2 after 2. More Scotland in the final frame as they score 2 unanswered for a final Scotland win fo 5-2. Italia went 0-2 on the PP and Scotland was 0-1 but did score a short handed goal. Italy got goals from Marcelo Di Luzio and John Annan. Scotland got 4 goals from Brad Stoll and a single from Patty Sharp. Players of the Game went to Italia’s Tony Cipparrone ( a nice Irish name).
And for the Scots, only fitting, newly traded rookie phenom Aaron Freeland. A pic only a mother can love!!!!!!!
