Week 12 Recap
Week 12 in the books. Early game was a good one, Finland vs USA. The Finn’s came to play in the opening period taking a 3-1 lead. Finland made it 4-1 after 2 as they scored on the PP late in the period. USA had some fight and took over the 3rd scoring twice but just falling short. Finland 4 USA 3. Finland went 1-1 on the PP and USA was 0-0. Finland got 2 goals from veteran Patty McCormick and singles from George Letsos and Robbie Leenaars. USA got 2 goals from penalty free Robin Flumerfelt and a single form Jimmy Maguire. Players of the Game went to USA Jim Maguire.
And for the winning Finn’s the very handsome Tony Carlisle.
With the Finland win they moved from 5th to 3rd in our very tight standings.
Late game between Sweden and Poland. Poland riding a season high 3 game winning streak had a lot of confidence in this one. Sweden scored the lone goal in the 1st period. This tight match continued in the 2nd with Sweden out scoring Poland 2-1 for a 3-1 lead. All Swedes in the final frame as the Polocks stumbled big time as Sweden scored 4 unanswered goals for a big time win of 7-1. A schpanking!!! Penalty free tilt. Joe Peacock got the lone goal for Poland. Finland got 2 goals from 3 players, Leo Brideau, Dwayne Tygesen and Peter Freeman and a single from Joe Cosentino. Leo’s hamstring and back and all the press stating he may have finally slowed down was put to rest as he finished the night with a 5 point effort, welcome back big guy. And obviously Swedens player of the game. For the Polocks, needing some viagra, was backstop Bobby Ice.
