OK away for a week and lots has happened. Here is a quickie recap of the last 2 weeks of games. Friday, February 25 the early game between Slovenia and Portugal. Slovenia could only dress 6 skaters for this match with a full Portugal squad. 3 Scot’s walked into a bar….ah no they came to help Slovenia out. Not a crazy game by any means but the Portuguese came out on top with a 6-4 victory. Portugal went 0-1 on the PP and Slovs 0-0. Slovs got 3 of their 4 goals from the Scottish Possee, 2 for Patty Sharp and a single for Flumerfelt. The other Slovenia goal for Mattie Goddard. For Portugal 2 goals each for Jeff Boulton and Tim Freeman and singles for Mike Russo and Rob McKean. Scottish rookie sensation Brad Stoll played for Slovenia and was pointless….wtf?????? Players of the game went to both backstops, Slovenia Gordie Ide and Portugal Scottie McCallum.

Late game Feb 26 between the struggling Italians and Ireland. This one was 4-4 after 2 frames. Italy scored early and late in the 3rd to win this tilt 6-4. Both teams went 0-1 on the PP. Ireland got 2 goals each from Leo Brideau and rookie Dave Vincelli. Italia got 2 goals from team leader Paul wanna be Italian Barbosa and singles from Mike Puciuc, Tony Cipparrone, Tim Randa and Marcelo Di Luzio. Players of the Game went to Irelands Leo Brideau and for the Italians their fill in goalie Stewart Henderson who played with just one pad it looks like.

2 games last Friday night March 4. Early game between a depleted Scotland team and Ireland. This was a barn burner with not much defence. Lots of red light Raccicot action. After all was said and done and Brenda with a sore wrist the final score ended at a 7-7 tie as Irelands traded Scot Alan Robb scored late to give it to his old teammates. Both teams went 0-1 on the PP. Scotland got 2 goals each from Brad Stoll and Jason George and singles from Aaron Freeland, Enzo Ianno and Slovenian fill in Dave Skingley. Ireland got 4 goals from rookie sensation Dave Vincelli and singles from Alan Robb, Leo Brideau and Patrick McCormick. Players of the Game went to Irelands Dave Vincelli and for the Scots rookie Jason George.

Late game between Italy and Portugal. Game was tied at 4’s with 2.30 left on the ticker and with under a minute to go Italy’s Jodie young scored to give Italy their 2nd straight victory 5-4. Portugal went 1-2 on the PP Italy was 0-0. Portugal got 2 goals from Mike Russo and singles from Robin Chantaj and his first of the season the ageless Bruce Freeman ahhh yes. Russo with a 4 point night. Italy all singles, Mike Puciuc, Johnny Annan, Tony Cipparrone, Johnny Fasulo, and Jodie Young. Players of the Game went to Italy’s Jodie young and for the Portuguese Mike Russo.

Ok so we have 2 weeks left to go I n our regular season. With Scotlands tie they locked into the #1 seed for the playoffs. Congrats Scotland on winning the regular season top spot. 2nd to 5th is divided by 2 points and still all seeds are up for grabs. Our playoff schedule is now confirmed as well. This weeks games will go Friday, March 11 at 9:15 Portugal will skate with Ireland and at 10:30 Slovenia will face off with Scotland. Italy takes its 2 game win streak for a vacation this week.
