Week 18 Recap
Early game last week between the red hot Fin’s and the rested Canadians. Canada scored the only 2 goals in the opening period and deja vu in the 2nd period as Canada led 4-0 after 2 periods. The final period went scoreless and the 5th place Canadians (sand baggers) upset the 1st place Fins. Both back stops played very well in this one and as such both Frank Rispoli and Bobby Ide earn Player of the Game nods. A shut out in our league is quite rare. Both teams went 0-1 on the PP. Canada got 2 goals from sophomore Denis Desrosiers and singles from Jay Cummings and David Dupal.
Late game between USA and Poland was a high scoring affair. Both teams score twice in the 1st period. All Poland in the 2nd frame as they score 3 unanswered goals for a 5-2 lead after 2. USA score a couple early in the 3rd but the Polocks were too much for them as Poland gets 6 goals in the 3rd and the Americans score 3 times. Final victory for the white and red 11-5. USA got 3 goals from Rob McKean and 2 goals from Tim Randa. Poland goal scorers as follows. 4 goals off the wood of Pat McCormick, 3 goals from Dwayne Tygesen, 2 goals from Robin Flumerfelt and singles from Gord Manning and Polish fan favourite Eddie Kuzniewski, what????? USA Dan Barrett with 4 assists in this one. Poland Tygesen with a 6 point night and not sure on this but Poland goalie McCallum had 4 assists on the game sheet, thats gotta be some kind of record. Both teams went 0-0 on the PP and Mr. Flumerfelt is now 240 minutes penalty free as he continues to work on his rehab. Players of the Game goes to USA Rob McKean and Polands Pat McCormick. Nice image Patty. Is that a Donald Trump finger move? Hey its just locker room talk right?
Ok this week January 27 at 9:15 Poland will face off against the Fin’s, our top 2 teams, should be exciting. At 10:30 the surging Canadians will do battle with the rested Swedes. USA get a much needed week off.
Friendly reminder to keep your verbal attacks on referees and other players to a minimum. We are a beer league and we all make mistakes lets respect each other on and off the ice.
