Week 2 Playoff Preview
Week 2 PCOHL Playoffs go tonight and the early match at 9:15 puck drop will see the #1 seed Scotland play the #5 seed Ireland. The Irish suffered a tough loss last week to Italy but look to bounce back this week. Scotland has defeated the Irish 4 of the 5 games this regular season and Ireland has one victory. Scotland has out scored the Irish 33 to 21 in those 5 games. The Scots led the league in most goals for with 115 and had the very best goals against with only 91. Scotland also led the league in penalty kill %, and both +/- in special teams and 5 on 5. Ireland had the league’s best power play % was 3rd in most goals for and had the highest goals against with 114. Their last game they played each other on March 3 was a 6-5 Scottish victory. Looking for much the same in this one. The late game between #2 seed Italy and #4 seed Slovenia looks to be like a good one. Both teams coming off week 1 playoff wins. The winner of this one will minimally secure a spot on Championship Day. Each team has 2 wins and 1 tie. The tie coming on the last game of the regular season 2-2 and a feisty affair. Slovenia has out scored the Italians 22-19 this season. Italy with the lowest goals for but the 2nd best goals against in the league. Slovenia scored the 2nd most goals and 3rd lowest goals against. Italy led the league with Brenda visits. Should be a great game.
Portugal are off this week and if anyone is looking for Joe Peacock you will find him this weekend working the Dixie Dundas intersection.
