OK week 4 in the books and one more week of playoff round robin games left. Niether of the 2 games this past week were even close ones. Early game between a desperate 0-2 Scottish team vs the undefeated Slovenians. Slovenia continued to struggle getting a full roster with only 8 skaters again for this one. Slovenia surprised the Scottish leading after one period 2-1. Scotland out score the Slovs 2-1 in the 2nd period for a 3-3 tie after 2 periods. All Scotland in the 3rd out scoring the tired looking Slovs 4-0 for their first playoff win 7-3. A feisty affair with 8 penalties. Scotland went 1-5 on the PP and Slovenia was 0-3. A hat trick from Scotlands Patty Sharp and 2 goals each for rookies Ron Lonsdale and Brad Stoll. A 6 point night for Stoll. Slovenia got goals from Matt Goddard, Dwayne Tygesen and Ronald Richardson. Players of the Game went to Scotlands Neil Wilson.

And for Slovenia with a 3 point night Dwayne Tygesen.

Late game between 2 of our hottest teams, Ireland and Italy. The Irish looked very strong in the opening frame winning 3-1. 2 lone goals in the 2nd period giving the Irish a 5-1 lead after 2. A closer final period with Ireland winning 3-2 for a final victory of 8-3. Italy got 2 goals from Mr. April Timmy Randa and a single from Marcelo Di Luzio. For Ireland 2 goals each for Leo Brideau and Dave Vincelli who had a 5 point night. Single goals from Pat McCormick, Alan Robb, Paul Harty and Bryon Wright. No Penalties in this one. Players of the Game went to Italy’s Marcelo Di Luzio.

So one more week of Playoff round robin games and only a few things have been confirmed. Ireland after losing their opening game then went on to win twice and tie once to lock in a spot for the GOLD medal game. Italy has confirmed a spot for Championship Day BUT need a tie or win vs Slovenia to get to the GOLD game and a loss will lock them into the Kiss Your Sister game. Slovenia win vs Italy will put Slovenia in the GOLD game. The early game at 9:00 pm on Friday, April 22 will feature our 1st and 2nd seeds Scotland vs Portugal. Both cannot get to the GOLD game and the loser of this one will be eliminated from the playoffs and the winner will go to the Bronze game. Portugal won 3 of the 4 games in their regular season games. An Italy win and a tie in the Scot vs Port game would eliminate Slovenia from the playoffs. Late game at 10:15 will have Italy play Slovenia and the winner of this one goes to the Gold medal game vs Ireland. Slovenia has 3 wins and a. tie for their 4 games during the reg season.
