Week 4 Recap
Gobble gobble week 4 Recap
Early game was a beauty, Islanders and the Flyers. 3-2 for the Islanders after the opening frame. The Island go up 4-2 early in the 2nd. Both backstops looked sharp the rest of the period. Flyers get a late goal to close out the 2nd period trailing 4-3. Flyers tie it up in the opening minute of the 3rd. Flyers take their first lead of the game with 4:55 to go. Flyers then go up 6-4 with 1:49 to go. Islanders press and make it 6-5 with 43 ticks left on the clock. A let push to no avail. Flyers give the Islanders their first loss of the season 6-5. Great game. NYI went 0-1 on the PP and Flyers were 0-0. Flyers get 2 from both Diluzio and McCormick, singles from Murray Barrett and the game winner from Jodie Young. Islanders goals from McKean, Julius, Riddell and 2 from Guerra. Players of the Game go to Islanders #31 Bobby Ide and Flyers #9 Rob Messenger.
Late game between the Oilers and the Habs. Oilers out score the Habs 2-1 after the first period. Same score in the 2nd frame as Oilers end the period up 4-2. More of the same in the final frame as the Oilers score 3 times as the Habs could just muster a single marker. Final score Oilers 7 Habs 3. 3 Oilers were ex Habs last year and celebrated their first victory in a long time, Ron Chantaj, Maguire and Spence, happy happy! Oilers get 2 goals from Maguire, and singles from Burke, Kelly, Rundle, Brideau, and rookie Chamberlain. For the Habs Eddie Kuzniewski scored his first of the season, top shelf action. Peacock and Sharp scored the other Habs goals. Oilers went 1-5 on the PP and Habs were 0-0. Players of the Game goes to Habs Patrick Sharp BUT he personally passed on it and gave it to Eddie Kuzniewski, nicely done and well deserved Eddie. For the Oilers rookie Ian Chaberlain gets the nod with a 3 point night.
Habs finish their first round 1 and 3 but quite a lively room. One of the boys had his wife and daughter make a mural for fellow Hab Rukavina reaching the 500 point career mark. Boys also got him a gold watch but said it wasn’t to be worn on his wrist. Sharp gave him a jar of peanut butter and said his dog can come and visit??????
Now we asked Peacock to take his shirt off for the photo but Eddie thought he heard Polock so he got all funky for the picture, not sure what his mouth is doing but as you can see a happy group. Just wait until their rookie Denis shows up. Flyers McCormick should hit the 500 mark in the next few weeks hopefully his boys take care of him. Brideau will be the next member to hit 500 sometime in the spring.
So this week will end our opening round of games on Friday, October 16. the early game at 9:15 will feature the Oilers vs the Flyers. the late game at 10:30 will show case the rested Bruins and the Islanders. Montreal get the week off.
See you all on the ice!
