OK our first round of pre season games is in the books. Early game between Portugal and Scotland was a nail biter. Portugal out scores Scotland 2-1 after 1. Scotland shuts out the Portuguese 2-0 in the 2nd and take a 3-2 lead into the 3rd. Portugal ties it up early in the 3rd. And then take the lead 4-3 at 4:21 of the 3rd period. A power play for Scotland with 90 ticks one the clock pays off as they score and tie up this tilt at 4’s. And thats how this bad boy finishes up. Scotland got goals from Patty Sharp, Joe ‘most handsome old-timer’ Peacock, Brad Stoll and the not very handsome Alan Robb, who had a 3 point game. Portugal got 2 goals from Dave Wodar and singles rom Greg Platt and Brice Lewis. Platt had a 4 point night. Players of the Game went to Scotlands Frank Nweisser.

And for the Portuguese their back stop who really kept this one close Art Senkowski. He does love that plunger!!!!

Late game between Slovenia and Italia was close in the front half and not so close in the back half. 3-2 for the Italians after 1. Slovenia ties it up early in the 2nd period. Italians take back their one goal lead with 2 minutes to go and then score again with 30 seconds left and again with 15 seconds left, oh my, a 6-3 lead into the 3rd. One goal from the Italians in the final frame for a 7-3 win. Slovenia got goals from Dave Skingley, rookie Scott Wilson and veteran Dr. Joel May. Italy got a hat trick from rookie John Levac making quite the first impression. 2 goals from last seasons Conn Smythe winner Dave Vincelli and singles from John Annan and Eric Fletcher. Vincelli has himself a 6 point night and a penalty aka Stan Mikita!!! Players of the Game went to Slovenia’s Slivovica lover Dr. Joel May.

And for the Italians rookie phenol Johnny Levac!!!

Ok this week we kick off our 2nd round of games. At 9:15 Scotland will do battle with Italy and at 10:30 Slovenia will face off against Ireland. Portugal is off and drying their baccula at home. See you all on the ice boys!!
