Week 7 Recap
Last weeks games recap. Early tilt between Sweden and Poland. Both squads missing their top forwards and Swedish Backstop returning after a scary game last week all smiles and healthy once again. 3-1 for the Polocks after 1 period. 4-4 in the 2nd frame as Poland takes a 7-5 lead in to the 3rd. Deja vu in the final frame as both squads score 4 times each for a final Poland victory of 11-9. 20 total goals ties our league record book for most goals in a single game held since the 2005 season. Brenda was sure to run out of ink for this one. Sweden was 1-3 on the PP and Poland was 0-0. Swedish forward Flumerfelt apparently won a bet with a league buddy that he would go penalty free for his first 5 games and so he did. Congrats to the lawyer for achieving this very difficult goal, just say no to drugs!!!! What comes next is anyones guess haha. Polish goal scorers, 4 goals for our officer of the law Kevin Nicholson, what???, 2 goals each for John Annan, Brian Burke, and Joe ‘best looking old-timer’ Peacock and a single for Eric Fletcher. Sweden got 3 goals from their svelte sniper Patrick Sharp, 2 goals from Rukavina, and singles from Tony Thomas, Robin Flumerfelt, Brian Ree and Paul ‘Porkchop’ Tavares. Players of the Game went to Polands Kevin Nicholson and to Swedens Brian Ree. With Sweden off this week Mrs. Ree gets the horns for a full 2 weeks, oh boy!!!! Brian why are the horns pointing down??? Call the doctor after 4 hours my friend.
Late game between USA and our top team Finland. All light blue in the 1st as Finland scores 3 unanswered goals on a depleted American squad. 1-1 in the 2nd and 2-1 for the Fins in the 3rd for a final Finland victory of 6-2. USA went 0-1 on the PP and Finland was 0-2. USA got goals from Rob McKean and Sal Guerra. Finland got 2 goals each from Jim Maguire, Jeffery Barkin and Timmy Randa. Maguire held just to 2 points is on pace to score 80 this season which would blow away our single season record of 60 held by McKean. A season to remember for the big guy. Players of the Game went to Finlands Jeffery Barkin and to USA Paul Barbosa.
This weeks games on November 1oth are as follows. 9:15 the rested Canadians will face off against Finland and at 10:30 Poland will do battle with USA. The single point Swedes get the week off.
