OK after a Zamboni crisis and a cancellation of games on November 11 we return to play last Friday night. Investigators are still pursuing newly traded Frank Arruda who was spotted on the Zamboni earlier that evening, what happened????
Ok early game between Ireland and a much depleted Scottish team suffering a team virus. All Irish in the 1st frame as they score 3 unanswered goals. Much the same in the 2nd period as Ireland take a 6-0 lead after 2 periods. Scotland find their mojo in the 3rd period as they score 4 times making this a game but a late Ireland goal seals the 2nd victory of the season for the green and white 7-4. Scotland went 1-2 on the PP and Ireland was 1-1. Scotland got goals from Dave Wodar, Neil Wilson, Frank Nweisser and Tony Carlisle. Ireland got 4 goals from their rookie sensation Paul Riopelle and singles from Dan Barrett, Dave Vincelli and newly traded and person of interest from the Zamboni debacle Frank Arruda. Players of the Game went to Scotlands very handsome Neil Wilson.
And for the Irish Paul Riopelle.
Late game between Italia and Portugal was a good one. Portugal looking very strong after the opening period taking a 4-1 lead. Italia bounces back in the 2nd out scoring Portugal 2-1 giving the Portuguese a 5-3 lead. The 3rd period was a battle in the first half as both goalies looked sharp. Italia made it a 5-4 game at the 7:50 mark. Portugal got 2 late goals in 90 seconds with a few minutes to go. Italia scored with 1:34 left on the clock and pulled their backstop. The Portuguese scored an empty netter for the final victory of 8-5. Both squads went 0-1 on the PP. Italy got 2 goals from Johnny Fasulo (best hockey name ever) and singles from Rob McKean, Marcello Di Luzio and Sal Guerra with a beauty. Portugal got 2 goals each from Alan Robb, Mike Rukavina and Mike Russo. Singles from Eric Fletcher and Chris Johnson. Players of the Game went to Italy’s newly hired sniper Rob McKean.
