Week 9 Recap
Two very close matches this past week. Early match between Chinook Paddles Ireland and the Gary Julius Portugal. Ireland scores the lone goal in the 1st and in the 2nd period. Leading this one 2-0 after 2 periods. Portugal scored twice in the first 3 minutes of the 3rd tieing up this one at 2’s. Ireland took a penalty with 2 minutes to go and Portugal made them pay and scored on the PP. Portuguese added an empty netter and pulls this one out of a hat 4-2. Ireland got goals from Neil Kelly and rookie sensation Dave Vincelli. Portugal got 2 goals from Mike Russo and singles from Tony Thomas and Dave Woodside. Portugal went 2-3 on the PP and Ireland was 0-2. Players of the Game went to Irelands best looking player #15 Neil Kelly.
And for the Plunger Happy Portuguese rookie Mike Russo!!!
Late game between the 2 teams tied at the top of the standings. Rabba Fine Foods Scotland and David Dodic Slovenia. Both teams missing 4 top skaters for this tilt. Scotland got the lone goal in the 1st period. Scotland out dueled Slovenia 2-1 in the 2nd frame for a 3-1 lead with a period to go. Slovenia found its legs and pushed scoring early making it 3-2. Scotland got back their 2 goal lead at the 11 minute mark. Slovenia got that one back with 10 minutes to go. Both goalies took over from that point on and this battle finished with Scotland winning 4-3. Good hockey game at both ends of the pond. Scotland went 0-1 on the PP and Slovenia was 0-0. Slovenia got 2 goals from Dan Barrett and a single short handed goal from team sponsor David Dodic with a beauty. Scotland got 2 goals from league leading scorer Brad Stoll and singles from Robin Flumerfelt and Dave Wodar. Players of the Game went to Slovenia’s Billy Dawe who shut down Scotlands sniper Patty Sharp on this night. Billy also shared with his team mates some very personal and sensitive matters. A group hug may have happened in the Slovenian dressing room during a players only meeting that talked a lot about trans….itions. OK too much information, give it up for the handsome Billy Dawe!
And for the Scot’s rookie Dave Wodar, again I can not get over how great these new Scottish pictures are. They all look the same, brothers from different mothers?????
